The “Nachlass-Stiftung Professor Horst Egon Kalinowski” will be awarding the Kalinowski Prize, endowed with 10,000 euros, from November 1, 2025. The prize is aimed at graduates of the Staatliche Kunstakademie Karlsruhe and will be awarded for the 10th time.
The Düsseldorf sculptor and graphic artist Horst Egon Kalinowski (1924-2013) founded the “Estate Foundation Professor “Estate Foundation Professor Horst Egon Kalinowski”. The purpose of the Estate Foundation, which is administered in trust by the Kunstfonds Foundation, is to preserve Kalinowski’s work and make it accessible to the public, for example through exhibitions and academic research.
In his will, Kalinowski also stipulated that his estate foundation should use the proceeds to award a sponsorship prize for graduates of the Karlsruhe State Academy of Art, where he himself taught from 1972 until his retirement in 1989.
Only graduates of the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe whose degree (diploma) was awarded no more than ten years ago are eligible to apply for the award.
Applications must be submitted online via the Kunstfonds Foundation’s application portal. The jury is expected to make its decision in April 2026.
