Photo competition – Impressions of Romanticism: Caspar David Friedrich and Saxon Switzerland

Saxon Switzerland exerted a great attraction on Caspar David Friedrich throughout his life. He had found the ideal of a romantic landscape here and recorded his impressions in numerous sketches and drawings. For him, the rocky world of Saxon Switzerland was a place of longing and inspiration. What fascinated the Romantics back in the 19th century still attracts photographers today.

The aim of this competition is to create a link between the two photographers. In four different categories (1) Sea of Fog, (2) Trees, (3) Sunrises and Sunsets and (4) Back Figures), landscape photographs of Saxon Switzerland can be submitted, which thematically deal with the landscape and the special atmosphere of the national park region on the one hand and with the works of Caspar David Friedrich on the other.
