In the long tradition of our printmaking biennial, an increasing trend towards the use of digital image creation and production processes has become apparent in recent years. We have pursued this phenomenon with the call for entries “Digital Graphics on Paper” for a separate exhibition. Digital graphic work without the resistance of manual techniques during image development and the printing process was the focus of interest. The final printing process, with the aim of creating a graphic image on paper, reveals both a proximity to and distance from traditional printing techniques. In order to present the widest possible range of artistic working and experimental methods, we organized a Germany-wide competition. The exhibition shows the selection made by a jury of experts from the submissions.
