KaB: Daycare center at the fish market, Worms

On the site of the former parking lot at the fish market, a single-story daycare center with seven groups and a total of 105 places (including 12 for children under the age of two) is being built within an L-shaped, five-story apartment building.

The property is centrally located in the city center of Worms at the intersection of Hagenstraße and Fischmarkt. The new building responds with a setback to the intersection, from which Worms Cathedral is visible, thus emphasizing this location. Worms Cathedral is one of the three Romanesque imperial cathedrals in Germany.

The area of the main entrance to the daycare center and the façade above it at the street intersection are intended as a location for art on the building.
The planned canopy and the outdoor facilities in this area have not yet been constructed and can be included in the design and adapted accordingly.

Near the site are the cathedral, the Nibelungen Museum and the fishermen’s gate in the city wall. The latter was used by fishermen on their way into the city to the fish market. Freshly caught fish were sold at the fish market around the year 1100.
