The George & Aristea Mamidakis Foundation invites applications from Greek and international artists for the 2026 Art Prize. Τhe G & A Mamidakis Foundation Art Prize was established in 2019 as a culmination of the Foundation’s thirty-year long efforts to strengthen contemporary artistic leadership and innovation. It supports contemporary artists by offering them the opportunity to create a new site-specific artwork that will become part of the Foundation’s art collection and join an important cultural heritage as well.
The Art Prize 2026 invites artists from around the world to submit proposals for a large-scale sculptural installation designed for permanent display in an outdoor setting, serving as a distinctive landmark within the space. The winning proposal will stand out for its originality, site-specificity, and creative vision. The Art Prize 2026 is open to visual artists working in the fields of sculpture, installation, sound installation, mixed media, constructions using natural materials, land art, environmental art, ecological art, and practices that interweave art and nature to create innovative experiences in open-air environments.
The selected proposal will receive an award of €15,000 and the Foundation will cover all production and installation costs. The selected artist will have the period February-May 2026 to create the awarded work.
The completed piece will be unveiled to the public in June 2026 during a dedicated ceremony and will remain on permanent display thereafter.
*All proposals must be for new/original artworks.
**We welcome applications by artistic duos. In this case both the prize money and the construction budget are shared by the two artists.
***The Foundation covers transportation costs of the work, one return ticket to Crete for the selected artist, as well as accommodation and meals.
Application deadline: December 29, 2025
