Funding in the KUNSTFONDS_Werkverzeichnung program

The call for applications has started: Visual artists, artist duos and their legal successors can apply for funding to create a digital catalog raisonné until May 31, 2026 (midnight).

Works of art are visual sources of the present and will be part of our artistic heritage in the future. The KUNSTFONDS_Werkverzeichnung funding program therefore promotes the digital documentation of artistic life’s work that is of supra-regional importance and high artistic relevance.

The digital cataloguing will be carried out in a cataloguing program provided by the Stiftung Kunstfonds. The contents of the database will be published after completion and in excerpts on the website of the Stiftung Kunstfonds. You can gain an initial insight into the acquisition program in the FAQs.

All measures required to implement the cataloguing of works are eligible for funding. Individual visual artists and artist duos who have been working as freelance visual artists for at least 20 years and have their main residence in Germany are eligible to apply.

Legal successors of visual artists who met these criteria and lived permanently in Germany until their death are also eligible to apply. The required personal contribution is at least 10% of the total expenditure.

The program is financed by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) with funds from the German Bundestag and is subject to the availability of funds.
