Applications for the year 2026 can be submitted from June 24 to August 31, 2025 (midnight CET). The application portal will be open during this period.
Who:
Applications are open to professional visual artists, authors and composers. Since 2023, applications from collectives have also been accepted. The call is open to people of all nationalities and ages.
Accommodation for partners, family members or assistance can be provided by arrangement and subject to availability. In the event of physical, cognitive or sensory impairments, please contact us to explain any existing barriers.
What:
Scholarships amount to 1,500 euros per month, minus approx. 100 to 200 euros for rent and operating costs.
The grant for collectives amounts to 1,000 euros per person, up to a maximum of 3,000 euros less rent and operating costs.
Travel, insurance or material costs will only be covered in exceptional cases (in the event of a scholarship approval, please contact us if necessary).
The period of the work stay, with a duration of between two and six months, can be chosen according to agreement and availability. The scholarship is designed as a residency scholarship; for the duration of the scholarship, residency in the artists’ village is compulsory.
The premises and infrastructure of the artists’ village can be used during the stay. The scholarship is not designed as a production scholarship and there is no obligation to present work results. However, there is the possibility of using exhibition and presentation opportunities, subject to agreement and availability. In addition, we welcome voluntary participation in events in the form of lectures, readings, workshops, etc.
In line with the profile and program of the artists’ village, a willingness to participate in events, collegial exchange and committed cooperation is required.
Scholarship holders are selected by expert juries according to the following criteria and weighting: quality of previous work, quality and plausibility of the project for Schöppingen, program contributions (interaction / community building).
