The art association ausstellwerk in Huglfing near Weilheim in Upper Bavaria is offering a four-week work scholarship in a summer studio at the train station in Huglfing for the year 2026. The scholarship is to take place in June/July 2026 (for 4 weeks). At the end there will be an exhibition, in coordination with the scholarship holder (ideally from 10 or 17.7.26).
A warehouse, consisting of a main and side room, and an old signal box specifically for artistic interventions are available as work and exhibition space. Both are located directly at Huglfing station. The conditions are simple. Only the rooms are available, working materials or required tools must be brought along.
The aim of the scholarship is to enable a professional visual artist to work undisturbed for 4 weeks and to give them the opportunity to develop a site-specific exhibition for the special aesthetic conditions. The main criterion for selection is the artistic work. We are looking for applicants who do not live in Munich or Upper Bavaria. We will also provide accommodation with a local artist, which will be used. This small apartment is located in Uffing, one train station away from Huglfing. The Deutschlandticket would be useful.
Huglfing is a municipality with about 3000 inhabitants. There is an hourly train to Munich; the journey takes 45 minutes. There are numerous lakes and the foothills of the Alps in the immediate vicinity. The “Blue Land” is the cradle of the Blue Rider movement and five museums in the surrounding area exhibit various aspects of Expressionism. However, applicants are not expected to have a similar approach to art.
A jury, consisting of an artistic advisory board, will decide who will be awarded the scholarship by the end of April. The scholarship amounts to a total of 1,000 euros and is a residency scholarship. A studio opening on an afternoon or evening is desired, so that interested persons can come by for a talk. An evening with an artist talk is also planned as part of the exhibition. An invitation will be printed for the exhibition at the end of the scholarship and press work will be carried out.
