EWE Art Lab Foundation – Art scholarship at Gut Altenkamp

As part of theOstfriesland Biennale 2025, the EWE Foundation is offering talented artists an extraordinary opportunity: a residency at Gut Altenkamp in Emsland. The scholarship highlights outstanding artistic positions and invites artists to bring art to rural areas.

The Art Lab art scholarship at Gut Altenkamp enables a talented artist to spend four weeks at the former estate and current supra-regional exhibition venue in Papenburg-Aschendorf. During this time, a work of art is to be created that relates to the history, present or future of East Frisia, the Dollart, Friesland, the North Sea coast or the Emsland and is based on the overarching theme of “Landscape”.

The EWE Foundation sees this scholarship as part of its cultural mediation mission and aims to motivate artists to develop both personally and in their artistic work. It is aimed at artists with an academic degree who have already gained initial exhibition experience with works in the fields of sculpture, painting, photography and video art and who have already taken part in calls for entries or competitions.

The prize money for the scholarship is endowed with 5,000 euros.

Interested artists now have the opportunity to apply for the Art Lab art scholarship. The necessary documents to be submitted are listed in the participationagreement.

The scholarship is awarded by a jury of experts from the Ostfriesland Biennale association and its environment as well as members of the EWE Foundation committee.
