Artistic residency at the Heidelberg Forum for Art “ZEICHNUNG“
The Heidelberg Forum for Art, together with the “Destille” Heidelberg, is awarding a scholarship for an artistic residency in the field of “Drawing” from 27.07. until 31.08.2026. Only members of the BBK whose artistic focus lies in the medium of drawing can apply for the scholarship.
Scope of funding
The funding comprises a total amount of €1,800 to cover travel expenses, materials and maintenance during the residency. The Forum für Kunst, Heiliggeiststraße 21, in the heart of Heidelberg’s old town, serves as a free living and studio space during the residency. It has a separate, simple living and sleeping area (hotplates, fridge, TV, shower, WC). The gallery room (approx. 130 square meters) serves as a studio during the residency, work tables are available.
During the residency, the artist will be supported by members of the Forum für Kunst, in particular in establishing contacts with the Heidelberg art scene.
After the residency, a two-week exhibition of the resulting works is planned at the Forum für Kunst, which will open with a vernissage (18.09.2026 – 04.10.2026). It will be possible to stay overnight at the Forum für Kunst during the construction and dismantling of the exhibition.
Artists’ services:in
The Forum for Art expects the development of artistic works in the medium of drawing during the residency. There are no guidelines in terms of content or theme. Transmedia forms of realization that contextualize drawing are also conceivable.
During the residency, the studio in the Forum für Kunst should occasionally be opened to the public to provide insights into work processes.
Two weeks after the residency, an exhibition is planned, the installation of which is the responsibility of the artists. At the end of the exhibition, the artworks will be dismantled independently.
The artist donates a small work of art to Christine Hartmann, managing director of the distillery, as a thank you for financing the residency.
Residency is compulsory during the period of the work stay.

Application
Please send your application in the form of a PDF file in DIN A4 portrait format (max. 10 MB) with the subject: “Last_name_first_name_Residence_Heidelberg”
The PDF file should contain:
- Title page with personal details: name, address, telephone number, e-mail, website if applicable
- Letter of motivation and brief outline of your work project during the residency fellowship (max. 1 page DIN A4).
- CV and list of exhibitions (max. 1 page DIN A4).
- Illustrations of artistic works in the medium of drawing (max. 5 pages DIN A4)
Applications must be submitted digitally only. Catalogs, work samples or originals sent to us cannot be considered or returned.
Jury
A jury consisting of four board members of the Heidelberg Forum for Art and the managing director of the “Destille” decides on the awarding of the residency.
