Leo Breuer Award 2026

The Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR) is awarding the Leo Breuer Prize for the 14th time this year. In memory of the renowned painter and designer Leo Breuer (1893-1975), the €5,000 prize is aimed at artists from all disciplines whose work represents a current exploration of the concrete-constructive.

Applicants of all nationalities are admitted.

The application must include name and address (with e-mail address and telephone number) as well as information on the artist’s career, a list of exhibitions or another form of proof of past activities.

In addition, portfolios, data carriers (if applicable) and up to three current catalogs can be submitted to illustrate the artistic development, whereby the focus should be on the work of the last three years. The documents can only be returned if a stamped envelope is enclosed! Please refrain from sending parcels!

Applications by e-mail will not be accepted.

An expert jury decides on the awarding of the prize. The Landschaftsverband Rheinland will present the Leo Breuer Award on September 21, 2026 at the LVR-Landesmuseum Bonn. With their application, applicants agree that they will be available to accept the prize on this date if they are awarded it. The prize is associated with an exhibition at the Gesellschaft für Kunst und Gestaltung e.V. (gkg) in Bonn, which will open a few days after the award ceremony.
