At the end of the year, the artists of the BBK Dessau are showing works on the theme of “green”. Green in December symbolizes hope and the promise that light will return after the darkness. Green stands for confidence, new beginnings, growing together – and it is also part of the Christmas season. The exhibition is the provisional conclusion of the joint project “Mechanical Shop Window”, on which the Dessau artists’ group worked together.
For three months, ideas were shared, materials tried out and various themes explored:
- October – “Risography”
- November – “Coffee machine”
- December – “Green”
With the last exhibition, we celebrate the idea of community: many different people and artists – one common goal: making art visible and connecting them with each other.
The opening is on 01.12. at 18:00. Everyone is invited to come along and take a look in the shop window – art for everyone, in the middle of Dessau.

The BBK shop window has been in Dessau since October 2022 – now it is becoming the site of a special community project. The artists’ association “Dessau und Umgebung”, or DuU for short, which has come together under the umbrella of the BBK, is currently working on an unusual idea: the “Mechanical Shop Window”.
This is the prototype of an art presentation machine that will display various works by Dessau artists in the BBK shop window. The special feature: the works of art are moved by a mechanical construction and presented to the public in a new way – a moving gallery in public space. Visitors can set the machine in motion at the touch of a button and thus actively discover the works.
This idea was realized in close collaboration with the creative minds of the Werkstattcafé.
With the “Mechanical Showcase”, the participants are taking up a project that students of the historic Bauhaus were already working on.
Since October, monthly changing joint exhibitions have been presented mechanically.
Parallel to the construction of the machine, a report was produced on the Offener Kanal Dessau, which presents the project idea and the artists involved.
