The Hanseatic City of Stendal will once again be awarding its cultural prizes in 2025. The aim is to highlight and recognize the diverse cultural commitment in the city. To this end, cultural prizes will be awarded in three categories in 2025:
– Cultural prize for lifetime achievement (500 €)
– Prize for pioneering cultural impulse (€ 400)
– Young talent award for cultural commitment (€100)

Significance and diversity of the cultural awards
The Hanseatic City of Stendal sets an example for the promotion and recognition of artistic creation by awarding cultural prizes.
Cultural activities and artistic works from all disciplines are honored, including painting, graphics, sculpture, ceramics, design, arts and crafts, instrumental and vocal music, dance, literature, journalism, cultural management and the preservation of history and tradition.
Who can apply or be nominated?
Anyone who enriches Stendal’s cultural life can be nominated – individuals, ensembles, initiatives and clubs. It does not matter whether the commitment is voluntary or professional. The only requirement is that the artistic work has a connection to the Hanseatic city of Stendal or inspires the city.
Requirements and nomination
Nominations or applications must be submitted with a brief justification. Institutions, clubs or associations are also invited to make nominations. Unfortunately, anonymous nominations cannot be considered. In order to honor as many committed individuals as possible, former Culture Award winners are excluded from receiving another award. However, winners of the Young Talent Award or the Cultural Promotion Award may be nominated again.
Procedure and award ceremony
An independent jury decides on the awarding of the cultural prizes. The names of the prize winners will only be announced at the award ceremony in September 2025.
