For the year 2026, the town of Otterndorf is offering a scholarship for an artist from the field of fine arts – painting, drawing, graphics, photography, arts and crafts, sculpture, film – who would like to live and work in the North Sea resort of Otterndorf, a small town in Lower Saxony with around 7,500 inhabitants.
The newly advertised scholarship includes free accommodation in the classicist garden house on Süderwall on the edge of the historic old town as well as a grant of 1,800 euros for a stay of approx. 6 weeks. Further funding is available for an exhibition and/or documentation amounting to a maximum of 1,200 euros.
The artist is expected to be prepared to present his or her work to date, including the objects created in Otterndorf. The respective presentations will take place in the gallery of the Altstadt bookshop.
The artist should send his/her written application to the town of Otterndorf. The application must include the following documents:
- Letter of application with a short CV, artistic career and previous funding, description of the project idea
- Portfolio with work samples to document the artistic work additionally by post with a maximum of 10 A4 pages (e.g. photos of the artistic works)
Only applications with a portfolio sent by post can be considered. Files with work samples can also be submitted online as a supplement (PDF and jpg files with a maximum total size of 10 MB).
