Judith Runge in Halle (Saale)

A recurring series of works in Judith Runge’s artistic oeuvre are the wall pieces ‘Carapax’: “I am fascinated by the motif of the bowl as the archetypal archetype of the vessel and
as a protective shell for animals and plants. Bowls are containers or housings for holding, storing, protecting and equally for opening, offering and surprising. I experiment with their appearance and explore the possibilities of the ceramic material so that functional and aesthetic aspects meet and enter into an exciting dialog. The bowl shapes, formed from dark, fireclay, preserve the traces of their
creation: every fingerprint and handprint remains visible and traces movement and process.
