Sebastian Kaps

On April 1, 2026 at 17:00, the BBK Saxony-Anhalt will open a new exhibition at the BBKarium in Dessau-Roßlau. The guest is Dessau photographer Sebastian Kaps, who will be presenting his current photographic work.

Sebastian Kaps dedicates his artistic work to landscape photography. The exhibition focuses on the oak tree as part of the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom. Kaps can also be seen as a photographic successor to Carl Wilhelm Kolbe, the so-called “Eichen-Kolbe” – a graphic artist from Dessau from the end of the last century who became famous for his oak tree portraits.

Sebastian Kaps has also devoted himself to a single oak tree, which he has photographed over long periods of time at different times of the year and day. A large-format photo will be on display in the exhibition, complemented by smaller works that document the changes, moods and development of this oak tree. The result is a multi-layered view of nature, time and change.

The BBKarium Saxony-Anhalt project is funded by the Art Foundation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt and LOTTO Toto Saxony-Anhalt.
