The Andreas Züst Library is offering a studio grant for duos and collectives (up to five people) in summer 2026. The duration of the residency is six weeks. Applications are open to Swiss and foreign artists from all disciplines (visual arts, literature, new media, music, stage, design, architecture, film, photography, applied arts and art-related sciences).
The Alpenhof serves as accommodation for the scholarship holders. Applicants are asked to explain their specific interests and motivation for a stay. We are looking for projects that deal with the library as a whole or one of its sub-areas. The studio grant sees itself in the tradition of libraries as places of knowledge in all its diversity. In other words, research will be conducted into everything that makes up the fabric of our culture and everything that goes beyond it.
The Alpenhof is an inspiring retreat and workspace with room for exchange and relaxation. Situated at 1110 meters above sea level, with a view of the Rhine Valley and Lake Constance, vastness meets time, Alpstein meets sea of fog, eastern Switzerland meets overseas, alpine uplift meets astronomy. The house with its rooms, halls and terraces is open to guests from near and far and to meetings of all kinds.
The arrival/return journey and the stay on site are self-organized. Each scholarship holder has a bedroom at their disposal. In addition, the library, a shared studio space and various areas for quiet work are available throughout the house. The stay and meals are free of charge and travel costs are covered. A living allowance of CHF 750 can be applied for.
Application deadline: December 14, 2025
