DenkmalKunst – KunstDenkmal (DKKD) is a declaration of love for the monuments in the historic old town of Hann. Münden and at the same time a nationally renowned art festival. For nine days, interested citizens and friends of half-timbered houses are given access to houses and monuments that are normally not or only rarely accessible. What makes it special: Local, national and international artists showcase historic buildings, churches, towers, cellars and courtyards in all their individuality.
During the day, the festival shows paintings, graphics, sculptures, photographs and installations, fine art from figurative to abstract, so that a great artistic variety is created in an extraordinary ambience and also on walls, squares and the three rivers of the half-timbered town. There will also be a series of workshops and many opportunities to meet participating artists. Every evening of the festival week, music, theater, cabaret, readings, film, performances, events and the now legendary DKK disco will attract visitors to old walls and special locations in the old town. During this time, the small town in southern Lower Saxony turns upside down.
The festival will take place for the 8th time in 2026. In 2022, more than 135 national and international artists took part. Over 200 volunteers ensure that DKKD is a success during the festival.
