A competition for artists since 2002 on the subject of “Art and Beer”, which is particularly dedicated to the cultivation of Bavarian pub culture. Artists are invited to take part in the public competition and are selected by the jury. The competition participants are invited to Andechs and produce their works of art on the maypole square below the monastery. The resulting works of art are the property of the artists. They will make the works of art available to the awarding authority for a period of at least 2 years for exhibitions in the monastery and municipal area and, if applicable, Tollwood. The designs to be submitted must therefore ensure that the artworks can be exhibited outdoors in terms of dimensions and weather resistance. The awarding authority has the right of first refusal. It is planned to offer a one-day vacation program with the participating artists for children between the ages of 6 and 12. For the organization of this day, the creation of a short experiential educational concept is helpful.

(to be submitted to Hubert Huber by 28.02.2025) Draft and short description of a work of art on the subject of “Art and Beer”. Information on the artistic development, illustrations of projects that are comparable to the competition task, on max. 2 pages in DIN A4 format. No costs will be reimbursed for the submission of application documents. The submitted documents can be returned on request.

Jury:
The selection of symposium participants will be decided by a jury made up of specialist and expert judges. The result will be communicated to the applicants at the end of March 2025. The jury’s decisions cannot be contested. The awarding authority has the right to publish reproductions of the designs in connection with reporting on the jury’s decision.
Symposium:
The symposium will take place from August 19 to 26, 2025 in Andechs. (Arrival 18.08., departure 27.08.2025) The participants will each receive an expense allowance of 750 euros. Accommodation and meals in the monastery and the necessary material will be provided by the organizer. Participants must bring their own tools. The organizer will help as much as possible with the installation and dismantling of the works of art. The artist’s own insurance cover (professional liability, accident and health insurance) is obligatory and must be proven to the organizer.
