The Akademie Schloss Solitude awards up to 60 international residency fellowships.
The Akademie Schloss Solitude is announcing its residency fellowships for the period 2026-2028 starting October 15, 2025. International artists, scientists and cultural practitioners from all disciplines can apply for a six- or nine-month fellowship.
With the Solitude Fellowship, the Akademie creates space for concentrated artistic and academic work, interdisciplinary exchange and international networking. The fellowships thus contribute to an open, diverse cultural landscape in Baden-Württemberg and Germany that is connected to the world. The fellowship is open-ended and at the same time opens up the possibility for events on site, also in cooperation with other cultural institutions in Stuttgart and the region.
Who can apply?
The program is aimed at people with two to ten years of independent practice after training – regardless of age. Applications from collectives of up to two people are possible, provided they have been working together for at least two years. Applicants in training/studies (except doctorates) and with a full professorship are not eligible. Working languages are German and/or English (house language: English). The Solitude Fellowship is an attendance fellowship. It is assumed that the fellows spend their entire fellowship period at the Akademie.
The application process takes place in two stages:
- Stage (15.10.-14.11.2025): Open short application (online) on the application platform
After completion of the first application stage, an anonymous lottery procedure will be used for fair pre-selection in practice fields with very high application numbers.
Deadline: November 14, 2025, 6 p.m. CET
All applicants will be informed by e-mail whether they have been admitted to the second stage or not.
- Stage (24.11.-19.12.202): Detailed application (online) on the application platform
Admitted applicants can submit their detailed application on the application platform from November 24 until December 19, 2025 (6 p.m. CET).
