Scholarship at Künstlerhaus Antoni Leins

For the allocation of studio apartments in the Antonie Leins Künstlerhaus in Horb a. N. by the Antonie Leins Künstlerhaus e.V..

The call is aimed at artists from the European Union.


1st Type of funding

Artists working in the fields of fine art / video / photography / performance / installation can apply for a studio apartment in the Antonie Leins Künstlerhaus in Horb a. N., preferably for three years. The artists’ house comprises three maisonette apartments, each between 60 and 70 square meters in size, which are made available. Scholarship holders can also use the communal studio (approx. 105 m²) and the courtyard (approx. 100 m²).
The scholarship holders contribute €250 per month (for the smaller apartment) and €280 per month (for the larger apartment) towards the running costs of the building.

The scholarship contracts are for three years to allow the residents a phase of intensive artistic work. They are also limited to this period. In exceptional cases, the period may be adjusted in consultation with the Executive Board of the association.

The contracts also stipulate that the artists must show their own work at least twice during their scholarship stay at an open studio day and take part in municipal events organized by the association.

In addition to providing the rooms, the Förderverein offers scholarship holders the following opportunities:

  • Opportunities for cooperation with schools (art clubs);
  • cooperation with the Freudenstadt district adult education center;
  • one year membership free of charge in the Kunstverein-Oberer Neckar and possible participation in the annual members’ exhibition
  • Support from Horb’s cultural management team for funding applications to implement a project in Horb’s public space

2. requirements for a scholarship award

Prerequisites for acceptance are completed training or studies and a convincing professional artistic track record of the applicant. The Förderverein Künstlerhaus prefers to support artists whose work is characterized by outstanding quality.

Scholarship holders are required to spend at least two thirds of their scholarship period in Horb. All invited scholarship holders must have their permanent residence in Horb during their stay (compulsory registration).

4. application procedure

Applications must be submitted to the board of the association by the deadline (August 4) in order to be considered. They should include a biography, 10 selected works and, if available, a homepage address and should be submitted via the website www.kuenstlerhaus-horb.de. The artists shortlisted by the association will be invited to an interview in Horb a. N. at the end of August.

In the event of rejection, a total of three application attempts are possible. Anyone who has already received funding cannot apply again.

5. authorization procedure

After an initial review of the applications by the Förderverein and the final selection by the artistic advisory board, the applicants will be notified by the end of August.

The artistic advisory board decides on the award. It is not necessary to give reasons to the applicant.

6. Exclusion

An appeal against the decision of the Advisory Board is not possible. Legal recourse is excluded.
