2026 German Community Award

The 2026 German Community Award will, for the first time, honor projects, initiatives, and organizations that effectively combat loneliness and strengthen social connections. The award is presented by the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth (BMBFSFJ) in collaboration with the Competence Network on Loneliness (KNE) as part of the “Alliance Against Loneliness” and is held under the patronage of Federal Minister for Family Affairs Karin Prien.

Applications are being accepted through August 16, 2026, in four categories, including civic engagement and programs for hard-to-reach target groups. The awards recognize effective and replicable approaches that combat loneliness and strengthen social participation.

In each category, the top three entries will be awarded prizes. The projects will receive prize money and nationwide exposure.
