Invitation to the presentation event: “Inventories – digital and visible” at Düsseldorfer Malkasten

Cordial invitation to the event “Inventories – digital and visible! A new tool for visual artists” on Tuesday, 30.9.2025, at 6 pm at the Künstlerverein Malkasten in Düsseldorf

Dear Committees of the Art Fund Foundation,

The digital recording of artworks is playing an increasingly important role in the art world. Individual lists of works, whether analog or computer-generated, have long been neither practical nor sustainable. However, many visual artists lack practical tools that enable them to keep a well-maintained digital inventory of their works. Yet these are essential for the artists themselves, for exhibitions, research, trade and research.

Together with the artists’ association Malkasten, the Stiftung Kunstfonds invites you to an event to present and discuss a possible solution: a new digital acquisition program that is easy to use and at the same time offers the possibility of keeping art visible and accessible to a broad public.

Initial approaches to the program were already discussed at the Malkasten artists’ association in 2024 at the Kunstfonds event “Everything is broken – How do we preserve our art heritage?”. An optimized version developed by the Berlin design studio CDLX will now be presented at the follow-up event. The structure and handling of the recording program are largely based on the exchange of experience with the Kunstfonds Foundation, which runs a funding program for digital work recordings, as well as with visual artists.

After a welcoming address by Christoph Westermeier, 1st Chairman of Künstlerverein Malkasten, and an introduction by Karin Lingl, Managing Director of Stiftung Kunstfonds, the focus will be on the presentation and discussion of the program.

It is not necessary to register for the event.

We look forward to exchanging ideas with you!

With best regards

The team of the Kunstfonds Foundation
