Artist Residency Berlin Wedding: OPEN CALL | REGISTRATION ongoing

APPLICATION FORM (motivation letter, liability insurance etc.)

Residency period: min. 2 weeks, by arrangement (arrival/departure usually Mondays 1 pm)
Residency location: KHBstudios, Nazarethkirchstr. 42, 13347 Berlin-Wedding (Leopoldplatz)
Residency artists: artists and authors who work with us primarily at a desk, with a bit of wall and in public space. (Our spaces in Berlin are less suitable for artistic practices such as painting or sculpture. This practice is welcome in the summer in our rural art gallery Below ).
The spirit of their work should match ours.

The residency is self-organized and self-financed. You work independently on your artistic work. And we invite you to take part in collaborative offers from the Minimal Travel working group, if any are taking place. We call it ‘independent’.

Independent residencies in the KHBstudios:

There is room for 2 guest artists and AG Minimales Reisen:

  • Guest artists* can live and work in residential studios at the KHBstudios: As an artist in residency, we invite you to the KHBstudios to work on your artistic work at the table and exchange ideas. (There is no classic studio for works that leave traces).
  • AG Minimales Reisen and friends can use the showcase room for desk work, meetings and events at the same time. If you would also like to use it: please only for small desk work that leaves no traces. The Schaufenster-Raum is not a classic studio space.

The surrounding area:
Leopoldplatz is a lively place in a wild and colorful neighborhood in urban Wedding, centrally located in Berlin, various stores, restaurants, good transport connections.

Artists
Our offer is aimed at artists of all ages, preferably over 40. Knowledge of German or English is required. The KHBstudios are an open, lively and tolerant place that is always changing – applicants should welcome the simplicity on site (minimal kitchen and bathroom facilities, no wifi), a talent for improvisation, social skills, no fear of guests and an interest in linking up with the Berliner AG Minimales Reisen.
In the event that they are invited, applicants undertake to transfer the contribution promptly and to take all necessary measures in good time to commence their stay at the KHB at the agreed time. At the end of their stay, applicants must provide the KHB Collection with a copy of their artistic contribution.

In addition to the obligatory submission of the application form, we ask you to provide proof that you have liability insurance and a short ‘letter of motivation’ covering the following content:
What are you planning to do/not do? Is there a specific project/topic? Do you have a specific plan for your stay? Please give us an insight into what basically drives you to work artistically.
Please do not write more than one page and, if available, supplement your text with your website/your profiles that can be found online and/or a portfolio as a pdf.

Visa?
All participants traveling from abroad are responsible for obtaining the necessary visas themselves. You should contact your embassy in good time. Please find out about the conditions before you apply. KHB can issue a letter confirming your participation in the residency once you have paid the full fees.
