Scholarship: Rural Encounters // Kunstverein Donnersbergkreis e.V.

The Kunstverein Donnersbergkreis e.V. has been awarding a three-month scholarship entitled “Rural Encounters” every year since 1988. All visual artists of all disciplines are eligible to apply, with the exception of sculpture (for technical/practical reasons). Small plastic techniques may also be possible after consultation.

The preferred period for the scholarship is May to September, but it can also be taken up in other months.
The scholarship is endowed with € 3,600.00 and includes free accommodation in a spacious studio apartment in Obermoschel. There is a residence requirement.

The scholarship is accompanied by public studio visits by the Kunstverein. At the end of the scholarship, an exhibition will take place, which will be shown in two locations.
Obermoschel, the smallest town in the Palatinate, situated in the idyllic landscape of the “old world”, with thoroughly rural structures, offers the opportunity to immerse oneself in silence, to penetrate one’s own roots and to withdraw from the non-stop “input” of the city.

This call for applications includes scholarships for the years 2027 and 2028.
The jury will agree with the selected applicants who will receive the scholarship in which year.

To apply, please submit a short CV, a few sentences about your expectations of the scholarship and a presentation portfolio with approx. 10 photos. Purely digital applications are not permitted. Where appropriate (video, MM…), a digital data carrier can supplement the documents.

Please send applications by post to:
