Staff Member, Artists’ Estates

The Professional Association of Visual Artists of Saxony-Anhalt represents the interests of professional visual artists in our state and currently has about 400 members. It regularly provides artists with calls for submissions and other important information related to their professional activities. It organizes cultural projects and is particularly committed to the areas of art in architecture, cultural education, the social and economic situation of visual artists, and artists’ estates. It is well-connected with partner organizations in Saxony-Anhalt and beyond, as well as with representatives from politics and government agencies. To support its work, the BBK Saxony-Anhalt is seeking a*n*

Staff Member, Artists’ Estates (Work Hours: 20 hours per week)

Within the association, you will be responsible for the “Artists’ Estates” initiative (specifically, the “Simulation I+II” project in 2027), including public relations. In this role, you will work closely with the executive management, the executive assistant, the association’s volunteer board of directors, as well as its members, service providers, and partners. This part-time position generally requires you to be present at the BBK office in Halle (Saale) Monday through Wednesday during business hours, as well as occasionally for off-site appointments. The project, planned for 2027, will explore ways to rescue abandoned artists’ estates, preserve them for posterity, and repurpose them. Together with the Forum Gestaltung Magdeburg (to be confirmed), the BBK would like to simulate two elements of a fictional center for artists’ estates: the “Documentation” and “Art Library” departments. As part of the project, the “Artwork Database” course—which instructs interested parties on how to use the online tool—will also be offered (https://werkdatenbank.bbk-sachsenanhalt.de/). In addition, the BBK aims to professionalize its public relations efforts as part of the project. The communication formats established in recent years will be evaluated, and a new concept will be developed and implemented.

If you have any questions, the managing director, Dr. Ruth Heftrig, is available Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Phone: 0345-2026821, Email: .

Application deadline: October 30, 2026
