EUROPEAN MEDIA ART PLATFORM – PRODUCTION RESIDENCY 2027

Initiated by werkleitz and co-funded by Creative Europe since 2018, the European Media Art Platform (EMAP) is a network of 16 leading European organizations working at the forefront of digital and media art, bio art, and robotic art. Through an annual open call, EMAP offers fully funded two-month residencies for artists, artist duos, collectives, and other artistic collaborations working in digital, media, robotic, and bio art to apply for a two-month production residency in 2027. The EMAP residency program places a strong emphasis on collaboration. Each residency is designed as an intercultural and interdisciplinary exchange between artists and host organizations. Beyond the residency period, EMAP supports the visibility and dissemination of artistic work through exhibitions, festivals, conferences, and capacity-building workshops—both in person and online.

Applicants must apply as a duo or collective, or propose a collaborative project with a partner of their choice or with a collaborator based at the host institution. Applicants must be EU residents or taxpayers in an EU member state, or residents/taxpayers of one of the eligible non-EU countries. Undergraduate and master’s students are not eligible. PhD candidates and emerging artists of any age and academic background may apply.

Benefits: A two-month production residency at one of the EMAP host organizations, a €4,000 grant, a €2,000 grant for collaborating artist(s) or a total of €6,000 for an artist duo, a €4,000 project budget, accommodation, travel expenses, and access to technical facilities and/or media labs.

Applications will be accepted starting September 3, 2026.

Application deadline: November 6, 2026
