We’ve had a wonderful and varied market weekend in 2026, with rain, sun, wind, and plenty of fun. Thank you to all of the approximately 2,100 visitors to the market, and thank you to all of the more than 50 exhibiting artists and designers! The Audience Award and the workshop fair were once again well received. With flyers on the bulletin board and previews on stage (Ursula Bosch, Kasja Dudziak, Nicole Müller / Frau Müller, Antje Sellig, Grit Wendelberger), the exhibitors presented their wide range of workshops. The KinderKunstForum and the WIR Festival Halle provided art education programs. The sunny songs in a minor key by “banda stracciatella” and the delicious offerings from Kaffeemobil Halle, Biolecker Anke Deimig, Genuss Botschaft, and Turm e.V. rounded out the event.

Special object

The winner of the 2026 sichtbar Art & Design Prize is—as she was in 2025, by the way—Halle-based jewelry artist Christine Matthias—congratulations! Her silver folding object, created in 2025, consists of nine roughly square panels that can be folded toward the center. It thus folds into itself, serving as both a leaflet and a box. Evenly stamped markings on the silver transition into a wavy pattern. The object offers a variety of folding configurations in which the interior and exterior views are juxtaposed. The prize, valued at 300 euros, was donated by Hallesche Wohnungsgesellschaft (HWG)—thank you! This year’s jury consisted of Sabine Bär, representative of the Friends and Supporters of the Moritzburg Art Museum e.V.; Halle-based artist and BBK member Christoph Liedtke; and Dr. Judith Marquardt, Halle’s Deputy Mayor for Culture.

Audience Award

Our visitors enjoyed the tour of the Moritzburg moat and took note of the “special objects” marked in yellow, which they could vote for in the audience award. The art trail entered its third year in 2026. Nearly 30 exhibitors had brought works that went beyond mere commercial merchandise. This year, Kasia Dudziak from Leipzig received the most votes—ironically, just as she did in 2025—for her chess set “Dogs vs. Cats.” The prize was sponsored by the BBK Saxony-Anhalt, with 150 euros in prize money, and by the Friends and Supporters of the Moritzburg Art Museum, which included a club membership valid through the end of 2027. Congratulations!

It was a great, albeit very hot weekend, with over 50 artists presenting a high-quality and diverse range of products. Special object

The new visible prize “The Special Object”, which the BBK Saxony-Anhalt awarded together with the HWG for the first time this year, was presented to Friederike Nottrott on Saturday. The jury – Thomas Bille (cultural journalist), Anne Deuter (book artist and BBK member) and Dr. Angela Dolgner (art historian and chairwoman of the Freunde und Förderer des Kunstmuseums Moritzburg e.V., one of our cooperation partners) – awarded the prize of 300 euros for her work “Friede dem Krieg”, which consists of three parts. She has transformed utensils from the First World War into peaceful objects. Carolin Schulze received an “honorable mention” for jewelry made from many small transparent glass beads that are crocheted onto a cotton thread.

Audience Award

Our new competition “The Special Object” also included an audience award. This was endowed with BBK prize money of 150 euros and a free annual membership of the “Freunde und Förderer des Kunstmuseums Moritzburg” association. The winner was Nicole Müller, who runs her photography label “Frau Müller” in Halle (Saale). She won over the public with a print that was produced using a special photobiological process. Nicole Müller applies a self-produced plant brew to paper and exposes it to light over a long period of time. Similar to a cyanotype – only without environmentally harmful salts – she then applies her image motifs – in this case leaves and flowers – and places the paper in the sun to expose it.
