Exhibition ‘Takemy hand-I’ll show you my people, places and dreams‘
The German-Pakistani neo-expressionist Taha Bader shows a different image of Pakistan
On Saturday, May 30, 2026, a new solo exhibition by painter Taha Bader will open at the small gallery Momente (Steinweg 27, Halle/Saale). Entitled ” Take my hand – I show you my people, places and dreams”, the show offers a conscious counter-narrative to Western media stereotypes about his first homeland, Pakistan.
Born in Karachi and raised as a queer person under the strong influence of a matriarchal environment, Bader makes visible the stories beyond the press headlines about Pakistan. The exhibition highlights three central pillars: the unmistakable power of matriarchs, the hidden currents of queer life that shape the metropolis, and the spiritual devotion of local artisans.
His large-format works are presented either in bright colors or in monochrome lines almost reminiscent of drawings.
