The blooming paradise “Bad Zwischenahn” is located directly on the third largest inland lake in Lower Saxony, the Zwischenahner Meer, and is also proudly called the “Pearl of the Ammerland”. Bad Zwischenahn has a lot to offer: unspoiled nature that invites you to go cycling and walking, the well-known Ammerland hospitality, a varied gastronomic offer with products from regional cultivation, seasonal dishes and international restaurants. Traditionally, Ammerland ham and the “Zwischenahner Smoortaal” are of course at the top of the menu.
Bad Zwischenahn is a place of encounters: Encounters between many people, encounters in the beautiful natural surroundings and encounters with historical and modern architecture. The stores on the “Zwischenahner Meile” leave nothing to be desired: Zwischenahn souvenirs, Ammerland specialties through to exclusive designer pieces. There is something for every taste and budget. A very special natural spectacle can be admired in the months of May and June. Bad Zwischenahn and the Ammerland region are transformed into a veritable sea of flowers when countless rhododendrons almost “explode” in a wide variety of colors. A special tip for all garden lovers is a visit to the “Park of Gardens” with its many show and model gardens.
Bad Zwischenahn is a time-honored place. The first written evidence of Bad Zwischenahn dates back to 1124 with the founding of St. John’s Church, which is still a landmark of the town today. In 1919, the town of Zwischenahn was awarded the title of “Bad”. Since 1964, Bad Zwischenahn has proudly borne the title “state-approved mud spa”. The unique range of spa, rehabilitation and wellness facilities, taking sustainability into account, is what makes Bad Zwischenahn so special as a health resort. Over the years, Bad Zwischenahn has developed a lively and interesting art and cultural program.
The association “Das Goldene Segel” Kunstpreis Bad Zwischenahn e.V. offers a very special competition format that fits into the art scene with a refreshing lightness – like a fresh breeze – with a lot of charm and a lot of joy in art. The presentation of the winners and nominees is also unique. The Kurpark on the Zwischenahner Meer provides a natural backdrop and the creative setting for a very special art exhibition with sailing flags that present themselves – sometimes gently, sometimes stormily.
The initiators of the competition are already looking forward to all the creative entries and are very much looking forward to the flags being hoisted in the Kurpark again in 2026!
