Sofia Mayer and Ruth Heftrig cordially invite everyone interested to the book launch and exhibition. On Friday, October 2, 2026, starting at 5:00 p.m., you’re invited to a brief talk about the book project, along with drinks and snacks. Sofia Mayer will be showcasing some of her latest works at “Bedürfnis,” and of course, the publication will be on display!
Spatiality, tension, rhythm—Sofia Mayer explores this broad spectrum through her art. Through her titles, she sometimes links her fragile assemblages of wires, threads, and rubber to acoustic phenomena such as hearing or noise. She translates sensations into non-representational images composed of lines, thereby evoking a sense of stillness amidst the all-encompassing sound. Her corporeal sculptures explore boundaries and limitations, skin and surfaces, the dimensions of bodies, cavities, hollow forms, and inversion; they address tenderness, strength, and vitality—and the act of situating the presence of one’s own body in relation to the world.
