What began in Halle in 2015 continued in Dessau in 2023 and is now taking on a new dynamic in other places in our federal state: the “BBKarium”. In Wittenberg, Magdeburg and the Harz region, members of the BBK Saxony-Anhalt have set out to find their own showcases for the presentation of contemporary art. Now it is time to think about an overall concept for the future five locations of the “BBKarium Saxony-Anhalt” and to implement it directly in 2026.
The first question is which mode the locations would like to agree on in order to establish the BBKarium as a nationwide coordinated network of individual projects. Questions regarding the selection of the artists to be presented, a possible rotation between the locations and the specific characteristics of the regional groups will be discussed. In January 2026, the project will start with a presentation in Halle (until the end of February), followed by Dessau in February 2026 (until the end of March 2026) – after which the mode determined by the project coordinators together with the regional groups will begin. The new locations Magdeburg, Wittenberg and Harz are to follow from July 2026 with their respective exhibitions. In Saxony-Anhalt, a small vernissage will be held on the first day of every month at 6 p.m. in 2026.
The Kulturwerk des BBK Sachsen-Anhalt e.V. is looking for a team of two independent project coordinators for the year 2026.
