With *Arkadien*, Christine Bergmann has created a work that emerges directly from the architecture of the World Heritage Center and artistically expands upon it:
An imaginary sun penetrates the building; from its intersecting surfaces emerges a kaleidoscope-like, mirrored dome.Like a shadow, its circle is outlined on the ground as a brass band; it extends beyond the building’s perimeter into the outdoor space and, through its division modeled after a historical compass, becomes a sign of orientation. In this way, the work connects the interior and exterior and can also be interpreted as a contemporary continuation of the Belvedere concept, which recurs throughout the Garden Kingdom: the enclosed upper floor opens up through light, reflection, and shifting perspectives.
