Münzenberg Forum – Photography, Collage, and Film Contest

The Münzenberg Forum Berlin is holding its art competition for the eleventh time, featuring three categories: photography, film, and collage. In its eleventh year, the art competition is dedicated to the Spanish Civil War and the themes of memory, resistance, and hope in times of fascist rise. Against this backdrop, the Münzenberg Forum has chosen as its motto the epitaph of Lucía Sánchez Saornil, the Spanish writer, anarchist, and co-founder of the anarchist organization Mujeres Libres, which fought against the Francoists during the Spanish Civil War: “But … is it true that hope is dead?”
The MÜNZENBERG FORUM BERLIN is seeking submissions in the individual categories that use the respective artistic media to explore today’s sociopolitical conditions and developments within the context of this theme.

The competition is open to all artists in Germany and abroad who have not yet turned 40 as of April 1, 2026.

In each category, prize money of up to 5,000 € is offered, which will be distributed among all winners by a jury.

Application deadline: August 6, 2026
