Exhibition + Laboratory
EXKURSIONSFLORA is the title of a classic book on plant identification (ed. Rothmaler et al.) and a combination of the Latin excurare – an excursion, often with an educational or research intention, and flora, the Roman goddess of flowers and youth, often used in a figurative sense for the flora of a particular region, or for flowering itself.
The drawings, cyanotypes and objects shown in the exhibition are based on an exploratory approach – exploring from an attitude of (be)astonished curiosity for what surrounds us. These are exploratory excursions into near and distant places. Everyday archaeological activities are meticulously recorded and weather observations documented. On the one hand, the artistic works are characterized by a formal rigour; on the other hand, they are also characterized by a sensuality that takes the material seriously as a counterpart. The current focus is also on an artistic collaboration with living plants, so that the exhibition can continue to grow until the end.
