Since the first linoleum factory was built in Bietigheim in 1899, the history of the industry and the town has been closely linked to the production of linoleum flooring. When the Bietigheim-Bissingen Municipal Gallery was founded in 1989, the “Linocut Today” competition was also launched, which always receives more than 500 entries from all over the world. “Linocut Today” is endowed with three prizes of € 5000, € 3000 and € 2000. The prize-winning works will also be acquired for the collection of the Städtische Galerie Bietigheim-Bissingen. In addition, the jury will decide on the purchase of three further works and select the exhibits for the exhibition, for which a catalog will also be published.
