Meissen Porcelain Biennale

  1. November 2024 to April 13, 2025

No other place in Europe is as synonymous with porcelain as Meissen.

The technology was developed at Albrechtsburg Castle in Meissen, the first production site for porcelain in Europe, and the secrets of the material were researched and shaped by artists.

The Porcelain Biennale aims to raise public awareness of porcelain as a pictorial material. The aim is to promote the understanding that porcelain can be and is a means of expressing art, content and message. The exhibition in the Albrechtsburg Meissen is thus a showcase for contemporary porcelain art in Saxony, Germany and Europe.

We have invited artists from Germany and abroad to the Biennale who are resident in an EU country and who experiment with the ceramic material porcelain and work creatively in the field of fine art. The Biennale is open to all artistic expressions of porcelain, with the exception of serially produced art. The exhibition is therefore also a tribute to the artist who, in an increasingly fast-moving age, devotes himself to a lengthy and difficult creative process.
