The Atelier-Stiftung Kunst und Natur awards residency scholarships at the Scharrlberg farm in Steinbeck/Luhe. Three four-week residencies are offered to scholarship holders working in the fields of visual arts, music, composition or literature. A total of up to twelve scholarships are awarded each year.
The idyllically situated former farm in Steinbeck/Luhe, a district of Bispingen, is located in the Heidekreis and is easily accessible by bus via Lüneburg. Hof Scharrlberg has attractive working and living areas, a studio and workshop as well as rooms for presenting work results to the public. An extensive eight-hectare site with terraces, gardens, an arboretum and woodland is available for communal use.
Up to three scholarship holders live in comfortable, fully furnished single rooms. Some of the bathrooms are shared. Scholarship holders of the Atelier-Stiftung Kunst und Natur are supervised by Dr. Birgit Krähe and Dr. Jan Thomas Bandelow. Both are the founders of the foundation.
The works created during the scholarship are usually presented in a final presentation.
Object of funding
The scholarships are intended to support artistic work and ideas. Funding is provided for concentrated artistic work with the aim of decisively stimulating artistic development and creating a sustainable basis for future work.
The Art and Nature Studio Foundation pays the rent for the residences in the West Wing and Nordstern. In addition, each scholarship holder receives pocket money of 750.00 euros per month. The scholarships are intended for individuals who are required to be in residence. There is no residence requirement at weekends.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring family members or pets.
Visits by external guests must be arranged with Dr. Krähe or Nicole Schulz and are only possible at weekends. Arrivals and departures are arranged individually by appointment.
The responsible handling of the inventory is a prerequisite for the permanent existence of the offer and must be confirmed in writing. Smoking is prohibited in all rooms.
The scholarship holders are responsible for maintaining the rooms and preparing their own meals.
