Anne Pruys’ series *White Clouds in the River* consists of large-format, three-dimensional collages made of enamel and steel, assembled into irregular wall objects. With their vivid colors, they project a symbolic presence into the rooms, while at the same time appearing ephemeral and loose in their application of paint. This appearance of transience and painterly style contrasts with the heaviness of steel fabrication and the demanding work involved in the enamel kiln. The abstract pictorial tableaux radiate through the interplay of colors and forms. The encounter of these forms gives rise to dialogues, balancing acts, and points of contact. Visibility, superimposition, and concealment play a central role in the creation of these three-dimensional collages. How do form, color, and space relate to one another? Which elements are present but not visible?
In her work, Anne Pruy creates images and a unique formal reality that she derives from her observations and what she has seen. 2024 Art Prize from the Saalesparkasse Foundation.
The BBKarium Magdeburg was created in cooperation with Netzwerk Freie Kultur e.V., and is on display at the organization’s office. BBK members from Magdeburg reached out to Netzwerk Freie Kultur and were warmly welcomed. This led to the opening of the fourth BBKarium location in July 2026.
