The Break & Repair Online Artist Residency is aimed at artists with children who are the primary caregivers and who, for example, are returning to their artistic practice after taking a break to care for their children, have recently had a child but still want to continue their work, or have been in the field for some time and would like to explore the topic more deeply. The residency takes place online, making it accessible regardless of location or time zone. Online residency period: September 1–October 26, 2026. The residency includes one Zoom meeting per week (plus a recording), workshops and feedback sessions with Marcia Breuer, Sascia Bailer, Laurina Preckel, and Susanna Janke, an online community and peer mentoring, and a final exhibition in Bremen (Zentrum für Kunst, November 13–December 6, 2026).
Artists with children from the visual arts and other fields are eligible to apply. Four of the eight spots will be awarded to residents of Bremen.
Support: Production cost subsidy of 150€, travel expense reimbursement of up to 200€, and accommodation and childcare during setup (Nov. 9–12, 26).
