The Zu Gast bei Urbane Künste Ruhr programme is aimed at artists interested in a contemporary perspective on the Ruhr region and its themes and has been realized in cooperation with local partners since 2019.
For the year 2026, Urbane Künste Ruhr, together with the History of the Ruhr Foundation, is awarding three three-month research residencies at the Haus der Geschichte des Ruhrgebiets in Bochum. The connection to the foundation and a workplace in the House of History with access to the library and archive will enable an intensive examination of the region. During the research phase, participants are invited to develop a project idea in exchange with the curatorial team on site, which – depending on its suitability – will become part of a multi-day event in Duisburg in 2027.
