The Saxony State Association for the Visual Arts is a co-signatory of an open letter from the Saxony State Association for the Cultural and Creative Industries regarding the current practice of recouping funds from the COVID-19 Bridging Aid Programs I–IV. The letter is a call for fair recoupment procedures in the cultural and creative industries. It also provides information on the current situation and offers case studies. This comes against the backdrop of numerous cases in which cultural organizations and self-employed individuals are facing substantial repayment demands years after the pandemic. Many had relied on this aid during the pandemic to be able to continue operating at all amid massive restrictions. Today, the economic consequences of the pandemic continue to be felt in many places. At the same time, unclear or retroactively changed interpretations of funding guidelines are causing considerable uncertainty. The open letter remains open for additional signatures.
