Scholarship Young Art Lemgo

Every year, we award the Young Art Scholarship to a visual artist as part of a competition! The scholarship is awarded by the Old Hanseatic City of Lemgo and sponsored by the STAFF STIFTUNG Lemgo.

The application period for the 2026/27 scholarship begins on September 1 and ends on November 15, 2025. Applications received outside this period will not be considered!

The scholarship holder will be provided with a studio apartment free of charge for the period from May 1 of one year to April 30 of the following year. The award winner undertakes to reside in Lemgo. A monthly maintenance allowance of 1,000 euros will be granted. At the end of the scholarship, a final exhibition will be shown on 160 square meters in the Städtische Galerie Eichenmüllerhaus. The scholarship holder will donate a work of art to the sponsors.

The Young Art Scholarship 2025/26 was awarded to the artist Neda Aydin. Ms. Aydin will live and work in the Atelierhaus in Lemgo from May 2025. She will show her final exhibition at the Städtische Galerie Eichenmüllerhaus in March/April 2026.

‣ Length max. fifteen pages combined in one PDF, either portrait OR landscape format

The application should include:
‣ Artistic curriculum vitae with information on education and exhibitions (max. two pages)
‣ References/examples of work (internet references are possible)
‣ Cover letter (max. two pages)
‣ The personally signed “Application form” (download for editing)

Participation requirements:
‣ Residence in Germany
‣ Not older than 35 years at the start of the scholarship
‣ Completed studies at an art academy
‣ Willingness to live and work in Lemgo for one year (1.5.-30.4.)
‣ Participation in the two-week competition exhibition in January
‣ Organize a solo exhibition in the Städtische Galerie Eichenmüllerhaus at the end of the scholarship
‣ Donation of a work created in Lemgo to the awarding authority at the end of the scholarship

The procedure:
‣ A jury reviews all applications in November/December and selects three applicants.
‣ The following January, the three selected artists present originals in a two-week competition exhibition in Lemgo.
‣ The jury selects the winner and announces the result during the exhibition opening.
‣ The two artists not selected each receive a recognition fee.
‣ The scholarship year and the residency period in Lemgo begins on May 1 and ends on April 30 of the following year.
