How are works of art created in the GDR preserved, processed and exhibited today? How large is the proportion of works by women artists in the collections? How did the collections come about? Who has what? How are they catalogued? How should they be handled? What should be done with artists’ estates in the future?
At the end of April 2026, these questions were discussed in the Radio Corax event room in Halle (Saale):
Ulrike Kremeier (Director Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art / BLMK),
Dr. Angelika Weißbach (Research Associate Museum Utopia and Everyday Life / Art Archive Beeskow),
Prof. Dr. Annegret Laabs (Director Art Museum Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen Magdeburg and Honorary Professor of Art History at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design, Halle) and
Dr. Ruth Heftrig (Professional Association of Visual Artists Saxony-Anhalt e.V.).
The event was moderated by art historian Anna Ebert.
