For the first time, the Kunststiftung Sachsen-Anhalt is awarding an international working grant for Rome in cooperation with the Casa di Goethe, the only German museum abroad, and the Arbeitskreis selbstständiger Kultur-Institute e.V. (ASKI).
The scholarship is aimed at artists who wish to continue the cultural dialog between Germany and Italy – in the tradition of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Max Peiffer Watenphul. The scholarship holders should use the unique atmosphere of the city of Rome and its artistic history for their own creative work and then present it in an exhibition.

The Casa di Goethe
The Casa di Goethe is located in the historic rooms of the Via del Corso in Rome, where Johann Wolfgang von Goethe stayed with his painter friend Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein from 1786 to 1788. The encounter and the associated experiences in Italy had a formative influence on Goethe’s artistic and literary work. Today, the museum is not only a place of research and presentation, but also a lively space for cultural exchange. The scholarship offers artists the unique opportunity to engage with the city and develop their artistic practice in an international context.
