Jewelry – the art of silversmithing
For me, making jewelry means finding and producing unusual, unique shapes, one-of-a-kind pieces. I mainly work with generous shapes that are often symmetrical, even and symbolically reduced, sometimes reminiscent of organic structures and textures from nature – mostly in silver. At the same time, I work with parchment – dyed, opaque or transparent, this material enables large, light, stable and colorful forms to be combined with silver. Let’s go in search of individual, unmistakable jewelry shapes – from clear designs to opulent jewelry stagings. You can use classic techniques such as chasing, chasing and forging and combine them with unconventional materials – with craftsmanship and experimentation. I will accompany your creative process with tips on design, personal style and the sensual effect of form and material.A lecture on the diversity of jewelry as an artistic medium with examples from the history of jewelry enriches the work. You can bring along particularly attractive, alternative materials – including found objects and very personal objects. Silver, stones, pearls, natural materials and non-ferrous metals can be purchased during the course. You will gain an insight into the craft of a goldsmith and jewelry designer in order to design and produce your own pieces of jewelry, in which delicate, restrained to expressive results can be achieved depending on the amount of color. Different approaches are taught.
