Artist Residency Balmoral Castle

Founded in 1995, the Artist Residency Schloss Balmoral in Bad Ems is a place for reflection, artistic production, discussion and encounters. It supports visual artists from all countries by awarding various residency scholarships, including one for an artist-at-risk and one for an artist from Rwanda. The scholarships for Schloss Balmoral in Bad Ems are awarded for an artistic genre or theme. This offer, which is unique in Germany, is intended to intensify the artistic exchange between the participating artists. This also results in an intensification of the subject-specific exchange with external artists, speakers, lecturers, curators, etc.
The works of the sponsored scholarship holders are presented in several shows and/or in a final exhibition or during the BAD BIENNALE.

The scholarships are endowed with 1,400 euros per month plus a travel allowance for the journey. Three scholarships are awarded for a period of four months, and three scholarships are awarded for a period of eight months. The cycle for all attendance scholarships begins in April.
