To create opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in the arts, the Board of Trustees of the Dr. Dormagen-Guffanti Foundation awards the Dr. Dormagen-Guffanti Fellowship annually to visual artists using the Foundation’s investment income. The Dormagen-Guffanti Fellowship is a residency fellowship and lasts for six months. In addition to residents of the residential home for people with severe disabilities, members of other initiatives located on the grounds—such as Treberhilfe, Aidshilfe, the Association for the Deaf, and others—may also be invited to apply. The goal is to engage in artistic work free from educational or therapeutic intervention. At the end of the fellowship, a final exhibition of the works created during this period will be held in the studio. The foundation will cover the costs of the exhibition in consultation with the scholarship recipient. It is recommended that you attend an open house on July 28, 2026, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
Artists in the “Drawing/Printmaking” category are eligible to apply for the year 2027.
The scholarship is worth 10,000 euros, consisting of 1,500 euros per month for six months, as well as a one-time grant of 1,000 euros to cover the cost of materials. A subsidy of up to 500 euros per month may be paid for six months to cover housing or travel expenses. A studio space will be provided free of charge for the duration of the fellowship.
Application deadline: August 31, 2026
