Art in architecture – Gundersheim | Daycare center

The local community of Gundersheim is planning to build a six-group daycare center in the street “Strohgasse” in the second row.

A new daycare center is to be built first before the existing building is demolished. This will only take place in the second stage. A two-storey building with a flat roof is planned. The building will be accessed at ground level via the street “Strohgasse”, with the floor above accessible via a staircase and a barrier-free elevator system. In addition to the six group rooms, the building has all the other functional rooms required for the operation of the future daycare center.

According to the client’s idea, the aim is to create free art on the building, which is to be found above all in the outdoor area. If the concept is convincing, there would also be space inside. The exact location will be determined during the process, depending on the type of art; the location / possible locations will be communicated by the colloquium at the latest.

The implementation of the art on the building as a work of art should reflect the sustainable character of the building principle. The artwork is intended to create an identity that is characteristic of the daycare center’s location. The participants are given a great deal of freedom in terms of subject matter and artistic form. However, it is expected that the artistic work will be developed specifically for this location and the task described.
