Turn on the lights! The Storefront Campaign for Culture

As part of the Halle (Saale) Cultural Theme Year, we are working with the Department of Economics to secure vacant storefronts and make them available as free exhibition spaces for cultural organizations to use for temporary displays. Who is interested in showcasing their work in a storefront in the city?

During the 2026 cultural theme year, “City.Light.Life.Energy,” we will transform vacant storefronts into temporary venues for art, culture, and community engagement.

Showcase your cultural venue, your program, and your work in an innovative way. Use the space of a storefront window to pioneer cultural participation in the neighborhood.

For this, you’ll need an idea, your own materials, a non-electric light source if necessary, resources for the installation and cleanup that leaves no trace, and liability insurance.

Starting in August and continuing through the end of the year, a variety of events will take place in the neighborhoods; some will be shorter, others longer.
